Day,12 & 13 Nuriootpa to Adelaide.

A short drive yesterday across to Adelaide stopping at 1 more winery, Chateau Barossa, which seemed to have fallen on hard times after having been opened by the Queen in 2001,things seemed a little run down. We set up at the Levi caravan park in Walkerville about 7k from the city. A short bike ride along lovely bike ways allong the Torrens river saw us in Adelaide city & the cycle central of the Tour Down Under. A lovely city & easy to get around.
This morning we took a 27k riverside ride in the opposite direction, it was easy going & very pretty.
This afternoon we cycled into the city to watch the first event of the Tour Down Under a 22 lap criterion attended by all the worlds top riders including 2 times & current world champion, Peter Sagan. It was very fast, very exiting & very couourful. We then cycled home at the speed of light, inspired by our heros.

More roses at Chateau Barossa .

Gondola on the torrens.

Adelaide city.

Lovely reflection from the water on to the bridge to nowhere.

City & Yvonne.

The bridge to nowhere ends in a waterfall.

On the bridge to nowhere.

Pano at the end of the bridge to nowhere.

Yvonne & yours truly, on the hilltop where Mr Light said
'Damn good spot for a city, think I'll call it Adelaide'.

Rolling right along.

Old bridge.

Cycling home again.

Some old place, quite a few along these lines.

Flowers in a park.

View.

Another view from the end of the bridge to nowhere.

Off on this mornings 27k heart starter, Yvonne & I going slower & taking in the scenery which is all new to us.
Half way point & a break to enjoy a nut bar.

Pano of same spot.

This duck family visits us in our awning in the afternoon to enjoy a little grain bread, happy to take it from your hand. There is another duck with 5 ducklings, but much younger who comes in the morning for the same reason.

These guys are seriously cute.

This pidgeon joined the ducks for a snack, but the mother duck plucked out a whole mouthful of feathers to try to chase it away, it didn't deter the pidgeon.

The helicopter broadcasting video over the TDU event.

The peleton flying through at 75k.

Here they come again.

21 year old Ben O'connor who lead the race for 18 laps, a mamoth effort.

  1. I think I would like Adelaide. Looks like lots of old architecture which I have always liked. How long are you in Adelaide for?
