Today we covered a lot of things to see & do. Mt Gambier is clean, tidy with great modern infrastructure.
We were on the bikes by 9am & did not return until after 5pm & then off in the car for the final couple of attractions finishing off by 6.50pm. You therefore will have a lot of pics to wade through. I am still only putting up about 1 in 10.
Breaking camp tomorrow & heading for Portland, so its Victoria tomorow.

Another great hot mix bike path as most places in Australia seem to have, but not Howard.
Well marked exits to streets.
Just to remind you that the cycle track used to be a railway, a piece of old line is left visible every k or so.
A sculpture made from rail lines bent into a circle.
The blue lake, which is grey for much of the year & then turns blue for a few months from November each year.
The building is the pump station for the Mt Gambier water supply
This is a guess, but it makes me wonder why it would not be blue all year.
Pano...
Some ducks near the edge of the clear waters of Blue lake.
Centenary Tower on the peak of Mt Gambier itself.
Valley Lake, only a couple of hundred metres from Blue Lake is on the same substrate as Blue Lake but is grey/green & never turns blue.
Valley lake pano.
Parklands along the old rail corridor & bikeway.
The old station building.
The journey across town continues.
A replica of the ship that discovered & named Mt Gambier.
An artifical cave with a glass floor in the interprative centre.
Greg letting off a little steam at a volcano display.
Some people just need something a little tougher.
Yvonne sniffs a rose in front of some lovely Mt Gambier architecture.
The cave gardens in a sink hole right in the middle of town.
Another view of the cave garden.
A colourful rose. There are rose gardens everywhere in SA.
Another beaut park & cenotaph.
We climbed down another sink hole & into the Englebrecht cave system where there is crystal clear water that is used by cave divers from all over the world.
80% of all cave diving in Australia is carried out in this cave.
Looks inviting for a swim doesn't it.
The entrance to Englebrecht caves.
A stuffed diver.
Just behind the showgrounds where we are camped is the Umpherston sink hole which has been turned into a beautiful garden with flowing walls of ivy and masses of Hydrangeas, all located in the middle of a stunning park.
Pano of Umpherston sink hole.
The ivy covered walls taken from within the sink hole.
An unusual feature.
Yvonne in the bottom of the sink hole.
Great display on the floor of the sink hole.
Yvonne takes in the view half way up the wall of the sink hole.
The path half way up the wall disappearing behind a curtain of ivy.
Behind the ivy.
The park above the sink hole.
Valley lake viewed from Centenary tower.
Pano...
Yvonne beside Centenary tower on top of Mt Gambier.
The walk up to the tower was very steep.
Lakeside at Valley lake.
