Very fine weather today for our bicycle exploration of 'The Country Music Capitol'. Cycled to the motor bike museum where the guy in charge tried to talk us to death. He did not stop to draw a breath the entire time we were there. There was no one else except us there & he was so happy to have someone to talk to. There was a tear in his eye as I finally backed out the door & cut off his last sentence. From there we went to the centre of town, which was very pretty & extremely well serviced. I think they are all gearing up for the upcoming country music festival & awards.
By this time is was warming up substantially as we cycled across town to the big golden guitar, very comercial. Think 'Big Pineapple' with guitars instead of pine apples.
We then took a very bad decision to visit the botanical gardens as the tourist guide on line listed it as a must see.. First we had to cycle back across town, then cycle up a 10000ft tall mountain in 55 degree heat. I had foolishly said I had never been to a botanical gardens I didn't like & the garden gods must have heard me. When we got there it consisted of 3 dead gum trees & a bunch of weeds.
We defied death plumeting back down the mountain to check out the railway station & stop at the grocery store on the way home. Had a nap in the aircon & then spent a couple of hours rewiring a damaged circuit in Greg & Wendys' caravan.
Off to Dubbo tomorrow via a scenic alternate route, we hope....
