Day.27, 28 & 29 G.O.R. Apollo Bay to Lorne & on to Queenscliff

Off air for the the last couple of days as we were at a beautiful free camp in the hills behind Lorne with little or no internet access.
Another day on the GOR to a free camp in the mountains behind Lorne.
Apollo Bay was the dearest site of our entire trip & the shittiest park, overcrowded dirty toilets & no maintenance.
Today we arrived at Queenscliff & met up with Jo & Kevin McClean, who are staying in the local van park for 8 days. We have booked into the same van park for the next 3 nights, right next door to Jo & Kevin.

Some more pics on the GOR on the way to Apollo Bay.

Plenty of crazy bikies.

Endless GOR views.

Plenty of twists & turns.

Day.24 & 25 & 26 Great Ocean Road

Well, back again after a 3 day break. Day 1, not much happened.
Day 2, Plenty happened but got carried away at afternoon drinks & got a little pissed. Day 3 is now.

Day 24 was a pleasant, easy day at Portland where we attended a free Australia day breakfast followed by a very long walk around the town & port, an afternoon snooze & a little grocery shopping.

Day 25 saw us on the Great Ocean Road, proper. Overnight at Port Campbell.
Today was more ocean road & tonight we are in Apollo Bay.
There will be a shit load of pictures of rocks, which looked great in real life, but more ordinary in pictures.
Today, day 26, is our wedding anniversary so we celebrated by having fish & chips for dinner.

This formation is known as London bridge. It used to have 2 arches & was connected to the mainland. On the the 15th January 1990 the first arch collapsed, leaving 2 people stranded on the newly formed island.

The point of rock at sea level in this picture was the location of one of the many ship wrecks along this coast. It took place in 1878 after 3 months at sea from England, they were due to sail into Melbourne the next day, everyone on the ship was lost except 2 survivors.

Another pretty inlet.
