Day.37. Cann River to Jindabyne

Another relocation day filled with scenery, up into the Snowy mountains up some very, very steep roads.
Tomorrow we climb the highest mountain in the world.......hang on I've just been told its only the highest in Australia, so I think it might be the second highest in the world.

First stop for morning tea was Bombala, uphill for 90k, but not too steep.

The Bombala railway station now defunct, was the biggest thing to happen to the region since white settlement, but only operated for 45 years.

It all looks kind of sad.

Looking back at the rocket from the station walk bridge.

Station pano....

The riverside parklands were exceptional & even had a stand of Califorian redwoods (not pictured).

Starting to get into the higher country with the GPS reading around 1000 metres. We didn't take the main route to Jindabyne through Cooma, instead we took a very scenic alternate via Dalgety with virtually no traffic at all.

Some high country scenery.

Sheep & grass & hills & clouds & a fence & some distant trees & if you look carefully you may even see some rocks This picture has it all.

There were stacks of these up here.

Here are some more.

Entering Dalgety, I can tell by the shape of the trees.

One of the few vehicles we saw was this truck crossing the single lane bridge in Dalgety. The old steel truss bridge was built in 1888. Lucky it hasn't fallen down.

The other end of the bridge which might be over the Snowy river.

Bridge pano......

Coming into Jindabyne with the lake in the background.

Afternoon walk on the shore of Lake Jindabyne.

Nice cycle path around the shores of the lake. You may notice we are not cycling, thats because Greg has injured his right hand. (for further information refer to Wendy).

There are many things, far too numerous to mention in this photo.

Lake Jindabyne pano.....

Yvonne stealing & eating a yellow plum, which were pretty good. There were numerous plum, apple & peach trees along the walk.

Jindabyne gulls.

Some Polish dude who explored a lot of this region. The other one is Yvonne,

A really exiting action video.

Duckus Jindabynus.
